The Rotary Club of Manchester has joined with the Town of Manchester to develop a “Rotary Music Garden” as part of the overall redesign of Charter Oak Park. The park has a planned re-opening during the summer of 2017 and site preparation is currently underway.

The Rotary Music Garden will feature 9, full size, all-weather, musical instruments produced by Freenotes Harmony Park out of Durango, Colorado. The garden is laid out in a park-like setting with walking paths, a central patio and benches. Children, teens and their families will enjoy this area for individual and group expression and community programming. The Manchester Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Community College music department and Manchester Public School’s music department will collaborate in the development and coordination of special events incorporating these instruments.
A video showing the design of the music garden and the placement of the instruments is available through the following link.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuLGghi9KKE

The Rotary Club of Manchester is funding this Music Garden project through the sponsorship of individual instruments and benches provided by very generous members of our community. Shortly, an engraved brick sale, to pave the central patio area, will be initiated. Additionally, a gala, fund raising event will be held at Cheney Hall on Saturday, May 6, 2017 featuring Wild Heart, A Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac tribute band. Additional details on these specific events will be provided over time.

Interested sponsors and contributors are encouraged to contact the Rotary Club of Manchester – P.O. Box 1, Manchester, 06045 – or call (860) 559-7132. Contributions to the Music Garden should be made out to the Manchester Rotary Club Foundation at PO Box 1, Manchester, Ct. 06045.
