Staying Sane During the Covid-19 Pandemic and Other Stressful Times

Mary Berge is a frequent speaker and trainer around the Rotary world. As a practicing clinical psychologist, she has a vast knowledge of human behavior, emotions and, coping; which is why we’ve asked her to speak on the topic of Staying Sane During the Covid-19 Pandemic and Other Stressful Times.
Dr. Mary Berge, a member of the Rotary Club of Johnstown and a licensed clinical psychologist, was first introduced to Rotary in 2002 when she served as a Group Study Exchange team member to Sweden. She has since served as District Governor (2008-2009), Zone 29 Rotary Coordinator, Training Leader at the International Assembly in 2019 and 2020 and she has been selected to serve as a President’s Representative on four occasions. She is a frequent speaker and trainer around the Rotary world including having spoken at the 2013 Rotary International Convention in Portugal and at the Women in Rotary Conference in Romania. |

The 3 P's in my Life: Polio, Post-Polio Syndrome and Rotary's PolioPlus

John is a member of the MOT Rotary Club, Middletown, Delaware where he served as Club Secretary, Website Committee Chair and District PolioPlus Committees and Club President for 2019-20.
He has addressed more than 200 Rotary Clubs, District Assemblies and Conferences, RYLA, Rotaract and Interact Clubs and Zone Training Seminars. Currently, he is: District 7630 PolioPlus Chair, a Rise Against Hunger Rotary Ambassador, a TRF Major Donor, a Paul Harris Society member, a Rotary Foundation Benefactor Endowment member and USA Coordinator for the “World’s Greatest Meal to Help End Polio Now”. John is also the recipient of Rotary’s Regional Service Award for a Polio Free World.
A graduate of SUNY at Delhi, John served more than 10 years on Delhi’s Advisory Board to the President. He hired many Delhi Hospitality Grads while running restaurants in Washington, DC.
John is a polio survivor (Class of 1953), paralyzed from his neck down for six months just prior to the Salk Vaccine distribution. He now uses a wheelchair for most of his daily mobility due to severe Post-Polio Syndrome issues.
John and his wife, Christine, live in Middletown, DE and are professional singers with “Rhapsody in 2” Duet Cabaret Act; mainly singing Broadway Showtunes.
